This is Arbtopia

Arbtopia is the word that describes what I aim for. I want that tree care does something good, for humans but also for the whole ecological system we are all a part of.

The road to this conclusion has been like described below.

Work

Employed by Stockholm Trädvård 2019 and running

Here I feel like home, working in a small team with a lot of possibility to take part of the developement of the company. Always aiming to work efficent safe and to have a great day at work.

Still working as a teacher when I'm not pruning, felling or consulting. Still working on developement of safety in the industry and maintain high standards of knowledge and qulity at work.

Employed by Arboteket 2018-2019

A small startup-branch in Stockholm where I learned more about teamleading and taking a greater responsibility for the development in a small company. Keept developing as a climber and started working as a teacher at the arborist school.

Employed by Trädmästarna 2014 - 2018

Trädmästarna is a great place to develop skills. Subcontractors from the whole (arborist) world comes by and works for a couple of weeks when they travel in Europe. The knowledge, experience, and skills are generally high. Its supported to learn more and develop by joining events like conferences, arbcamps and competitions.

Here is also possible to develop certain interests as Safety culture and rescue techniques. I have planned and held several days and workshops to encourage our safety culture. Together we now build a broader perspective of what safety is and should be.

Writing articles about trees and tree care for the magazine Allt om Trädgård since 2017. I send you work samples on request.

Employed by Medborgarskolan since 2017 to hold courses for people that want to learn how to climb trees.

Working in Germany in March 2018

I had a great week with Gregor Hansch and are hoping to come back to Berlin for some more work soon.

New Zealand experiences in 2016 june-august.

I went to the other side of the earth to see some new trees and learn more about the trade in an international perspective. You can read about it on my blog here.

Womens Arbcamp 2017

SAF arbcamp 2017

Womens Arbcamp 26 - 28 February 2016 BLOG POST HERE

Where I learned loads and had a workshop in rescue and safety on single/stationary rope, work climb.

SAF conference 9-10 October 2015

Interesting ideas of how to protect valuable ancient and old trees in urban areas. Also great knowledge about wood living species and the importance of keeping their habitat. Some names to drop is Ted Green, Jill Butler, Vikki Bengtsson and Nicklas Jansson.

Joe Carry from 59 degrees also showed how compost could be used to create a fauna of microorganisms that promote tree vitality. With his mixture, he gave life back to a ash with chalara dieback. This could end the need of fertilisers which cause severe environmental damage.

SAF arbcamp 2015

Vikki Bengtsson from ProNatura and her colleagues had a workshop where we learned to harm trees. In a good way. The idea is that ancient trees are habitat for so many species that is important for all life on earth. When the old trees fall the inhabitants need new places to live. But there is a gap where mature trees gone to forestry therefore, we need to create and overlap. By making holes, tearing branches, building nests - next generations could survive.

Here I also did the safety and risk assessment run through and a form that was used during the weekend on workshops.

SAF arbcamp 2014

This was the first time I meet Ted Green Jill Butler, I was impressed by their knowledge I learned why a hollow tree could be more stable than a solid.

Svenska Trädföreningen - Träddagarna 2013

Mark Bridge from Treemagineers showed his best tricks for rescue. In interviewed him for my exam work (a booklet about safety and rescue) and I learned loads.

SAF arbcamp 2013

Focus on rescue and Safety with Andreas Carlsson. We learned that the focus shouldn't be to bring the casualty down as quick as possible, but to do what's needed to decrease the injuries and always remember to put life before injury.

Arborist school

Arborist YH, Hvilan Utbildning. August 2012 - May 2014.

Two years of arborist education at Hvilan, in Skåne, south of Sweden. Big focus on tree biology, knowledge about the species. Practical education was more directed to everyday work as an arborist. The education has no problem by being compared to ETW and ISA.

My exam work was a 50 pages long booklet about rescue and safety. It's in Swedish, contact me if you are interested in translation, printing or just have a look at it.

I have been a Trainee at all theses companies

Life before trees

Before I started the journey to become a professional tree climber I worked as a journalist. This is how I learned how to ask questions. To see where I worked and what I did there, follow this link (it's in Swedish, ask me if you want to hear about it in English.)
